Parting Tools Pyramid Tools Platter Scrapers

I have been manufacturing wood turning tools for three years to meet the needs of myself, students and local area turners who have found the commercial offering inadequate.

With the selections of random hardwood handles and chrome or brass ferrules each tool is individual and unique. No finish has been applied to minimize slippage in the hand during use.

Parting Tools I developed these tools to be more stable than other tools of the same width; especially when making sizing cuts and using calipers or parting off a project. The 3/16 inch wide blade improves tennon making for further chucking while the longer handle stabilizes a one-handed hold when parting off. The lower cutting bevel reduces the need to reset the tool rest height before using the tool.

Pyramid Tools Pyramid tools (diamond point tools): These tools are specific for making very small decorative marks and beads flush with the surface of your project. I use them for rolling small decorative beads on the rims of bowls, adding final decorations to the foot of a project, and decorating small turnings. Pyramid tools are made from 5/16 round stock of the same tool steel un-annealed with a Rockwell hardness of 63-65.

Platter Scrapers Platter Scrapers: For the scrappers and parting tools I use chromium, tungsten, vanadium tool steel, hand ground from 3/16 x 1.25 precision ground flat stock and annealed to Rockwell hardness of 58-60.
