Class includes wood lathe operation, tools, safest turning techniques. And fun turning activities of increasing complexity and projects to take home. Skill Level: Beginning. Prerequisite: willingness to learn something new and fun (8 weeks) Dietrich, Tuesday, 6 PM – 9 PM, 6/14 – 8/2 Course number: 873601, $182 Woodturning 150 - Advanced Spindle Turning Techniques Build your woodturning skills in this project-based class while creating new and interesting items. Work on specific skills or tool usage. Projects are listed in the appendix. Prerequisite: Woodturning - 101 at PHEC. (6 weeks) Bentley, Thursday, 1 PM – 4 PM, 6/16 – 7/21 Course number: 872901, $137 Woodturning 201 — Basic Bowl Turning The next step in woodturning is learning about new tools and techniques used to turn wooden bowls. Discussion will include information on good design and multiple techniques for mounting and turning. Prerequisite: Woodturning 101 or Instructor approval. (6 weeks) Griswold/Nelson, Tuesday, 1 PM – 4 PM, 6/14 – 7/19 Course number: 874301 $137 Woodturning - Acrylic Bottle Stoppers Cast an Acrylic Blank which will be turned, sanded and polished into a Stainless-Steel Bottle Stopper. We will cover a variety of casting methods and approaches for tapping and holding the blank securely for turning. Prerequisite: Woodturning 101 at PHEC Albert, Wednesday, 1PM-4 PM, 7/6-7/20 Course number: 878301 $102. Woodturning – Multi-Axis Turning Workshop Learn to turn objects using Multiple Axis safely and securely. Focus will be on pre-visualizing the effects of shifting axis with time to experiment and practice. Class project will focus on turning a 3-sided tool handle. (One-hour lunch break). Prerequisite: Woodturning 101 at PHEC. Albert, Wednesday, , 9AM-4PM, 6/15 Course number: 878201 $75 Woodturning – Two-Axis Square Bowl Learn to turn a pair of two-axis square bowls using a custom jig you will make in class. Prerequisite: Woodturning 201 at PHEC. Dahl, Monday, 1PM-4PM, 6/6-6/27 Course number: 874901, $115 Woodturning- Collaboration Seminar Bring inspiration, skills, and ideas and let’s create! In this three-day seminar, groups of three each morning collaborate on a piece to be completed that day. With a wide variety of materials, each team can turn, burn, paint, carve and assemble something fantastic. Novice to expert, all materials provided. Just bring your creativity and your skills; let’s have fun and make art. (One hour lunch break). $20 cash fee payable to instructor at the first class.
